PE Excuses

As with all of your child’s classes, assignments missed due to illness or injury, must be made up to earn a grade.

A parent note and or doctor note does not excuse a student from missing class so the absence must be made up. See below for specifics about each type of note.

If a student is not present or they have a medical excuse then they are not earning their points for the day and should turn in a make-up form so their grade is not affected by the absence.  Students are allowed to turn in 3 make-up forms per trimester.

You may obtain a copy of the Make-Up Form at the link in the menu on the left.  Your child has 2 weeks to turn in their make-up form from the time they return to class. Please know that in addition to these forms, we also offer time in class to make-up graded runs that were missed, as well as give the opportunity to make individual appointments with each coach should the student’s situation require more than 3 make-ups.

In addition, students must be present and participating for at least 20 days to earn a grade.  If they miss more than the allowed time they can only be given a NG (no grade) for that trimester.

PARENT NOTES: Students may be excused from physical education for up to three days with a signed and dated note from a parent/guardian. If the note does not request two or three days off, we will assume that it is a one day excuse.

DOCTOR NOTES: To be excused from physical education for a longer period of time, students must bring a note from a doctor.  If the doctor's note is for less than three weeks the student must complete make-up forms to earn back the points they have missed in class. If their physical condition allows it, they will be required to dress out and stay with their coach during the class period.
