Library hours are on a flexible schedule and students are welcome any time. Students may borrow library books for 14 days; overnight for reference books or longer with need. There are no fines for Overdue books, but students with overdue materials will not be allowed other library materials until books are returned or lost items are cleared by compensation.
MEDIA & INFORMATION LIBRARY COMMONS PORTAL: Library Catalog; Overdrive eBooks & audiobooks are available, as well as ProQuest and EBSCO databases including Ebsco ebooks. All available 24 hours a day; Database usernames and passwords are available by accessing your Google Student account and clicking the link entitled Z- Databases from the list on the Oak Valley Destiny Library Home Tab.
Personal library & textbook records & holds may be accessed by clicking on, “Log in” in the Library Catalog and entering their MyPlan login and password, and clicking on, “My Info.”
TEXTBOOKS: Students are responsible for the barcoded textbooks that are assigned to them. Cover textbooks with brown paper bags or paper and protect them from rain & moisture. Please do not use laminated covers.
Library Commons: Students are expected to return borrowed textbooks and other materials in the same condition in which they are borrowed. Bring any unnoted textbook damages to the attention of the MILC staff within 30 days of checkout. In accordance with PUSD administrative procedure (6.84.1), the student and/or his/her parents are liable for the replacement cost or repair of any lost, vandalized, or damaged books. Textbook staff will assess charges in accordance with the replacement cost of the book on the Oak Valley Library web portal. There is a $10 District service charge for refunds and/or processing. Students may access their textbook records by going to the Library Catalog and logging in with their MyPlan login and clicking on, “My Info.”
STUDENT ID CARD REPLACEMENT: Replacement ID cards can be purchased for $5 at the library.
OVMS Library Commons Expectations
*The Commons is meant to be a quiet productive space for all middle school students and staff. Quiet speaking volume and appropriate language are expected. Also, please be respectful of classes going on and others who might be working and use headphones when listening to music or audio.
*Food and drinks (including water) are not permitted in the Commons.
*The Commons is not for storage of personal items. Please take your belongings with you when you leave and be sure to push in your chair and clean up any mess you may have made.
