“Mindfulness, a minute to learn and a lifetime to master”.  When athletes have a game, they spend time practicing and getting ready.  Mindfulness is the same.  We cannot put into practice something we have not trained for.  The key to mindfulness is to practice when you are not stressed.  Practicing twice a day for two minutes at a time, will increase emotional regulation, decrease stress, improve concentration, and to help manage difficult moments.

Wellness Wednesday Exercise:
Take a moment to find a comfortable position.  Bring awareness to your breath, inhale and exhale.  Watching the breath come in and out of the body, filling all the space of the body, from the head, to the shoulders, down to the belly, and into the toes.  Allow each breath to move from the top of the head, taking time to move to the toes.  This is a slow process that can take 2 minutes all the way to 20 minutes.  Enjoy the moment. Breathe awareness.
